Portraits Portraits!

I've decided to spend some serious time with charcoal recently and am falling into a world of never ending faces and blackened fingers... I'm getting better but it's a constant process of doing and redoing the same things over and over.... Grrrr. Pictures will be coming soon!

Bust in Progress

It looks bad now and needs a serious facelift but it's coming along...

Under the Sea, prints from nature

My original idea was to create a seascape using elements of the sea, this obviously changed when I realized the difficulty of matching those elements to the shapes that I looking for. It was disaster... My final goal was to create simple movement throughout the work by using a mix of lines and textures. I believe that I did not accomplish this to the best of my ablilty. I have allot of things that I should have done differently. lay out the composition, use different rubbing techniques, use a color, and not have the square affect witht he center axis composition. I liked that the starfish turned out rather well.

Things We Never Stop To See

I don't think we realize how beautiful the little things in this world are, or we just never stop to look. I took these a few minutes ago out my window, on my sleeve. You can see them with your own eyes before the picture is taken, and maybe I'm alone on this, but that's pretty cool in my opinion.

That Girl I Usually Refer To As One Of My Favorite People

Her name is Michelle, or Axasha for those closer to her, and she is my sister.
Me being an only child this might confuse some people.
I also have a number of brothers, but this entry is really about her.
If I were to tell you who she was in a word it would be impossible.
Actually in any words it would be impossible to fully express my gratitude for this multi talented,
exceptional woman. She is a writer and artist,
but mostly I would just like to share a little something she wrote that has become my inspiration
on how I would like to someday look upon my life. This is
"Single Minded Love" By: Axasha

Love is so colorfully beautiful

said the man with no sight.

I saw it once,

his smile gleamed with delight.

As he gazed off to one side,

he told a story to the other,

his face as bright as sunshine,

and his aura an array of colors.

He spoke of his turn with love

like a blossoming flower,

built up to full bloom,

then withered to powder.

Even after his tale

his smile still shown through,

so I had to ask

“Why, I thought she left you?”

He smiled even bigger,

and leaned me in real close.

Then whispered so faint

even quieter then a mouse.

She may have left me physically,

with her voice no longer heard,

but inside she is always here with me

And I believe that word for word.

As my smile began to arise,

I had to give it to the man,

he said everything I ever felt,

In a way I never can.

So, I had this Dream and....

Honestly this post has nothing to do with my dream but I thought it was a catchy title. It came to my attention the other day that I haven't updated this blog in a very long time, so I began to fumble for new artworks to possibly post and came up pretty blank. Of course, not being very diligent about actually producing work has always been a "strong suit" of mine (yeah right, more of a bad habit). So for now here's a photograph and some simple words till I manage to light an artistic fire under my own a** and get to work.

I just love the expression... :)
